Yokota Air Base

Yokota Air Base, in Fussa, Japan, is the host base for Headquarters, U.S. Forces Japan and Fifth Air Force as well as the 374th Airlift Wing, according to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview of Yokota. The 374th Airlift Wing is the host unit; it flies the C-130J Super Hercules (36th Airlift Squadron), the C-12J and UH-1N helicopters, and the page puts the base populace at approximately 12,500. Yokota is an accompanied tour with concurrent travel of dependents authorized.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, less than a mile from Fairborn, Ohio, in Greene and Montgomery counties and within 5 miles of Dayton, is part of Air Force Materiel Command, and its workforce numbers approximately 38,000 military members, civilians and contractors, according to the Wright-Patterson MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview. The base is divided into Areas A, B and Kittyhawk. Because multiple tenant units operate here, each with its own procedures, there is no single in-processing checklist, the check-in page says; your sponsor or gaining unit gives you one.

Whiteman Air Force Base

"Today, Whiteman Air Force Base is the home of the 509th Bomb Wing, which operates and maintains the Air Force's premier weapon system, the B-2 bomber", according to the Whiteman MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page. The 509th is part of Air Force Global Strike Command and the base's host wing. The Whiteman overview places the base in Knob Noster, Missouri, in rural Johnson County, approximately 60 miles southeast of Kansas City; the base took its present name in October 1955 in honor of 2nd Lt. George A. Whiteman of Sedalia, Missouri.

White Sands Missile Range

"White Sands Missile Range is a national asset critical for enabling national security modernization through independent development testing, operational testing and evaluation", according to the White Sands MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page. The WSMR overview says the Headquarters area is 20 miles east of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and 45 miles north of El Paso, Texas. In October 2026 it added: "Currently, there is no base operator. Contact your gaining unit or sponsor for updated information."

Vandenberg Space Force Base

Vandenberg Space Force Base, on California's Central Coast near Lompoc, covers 99,604 acres, operates about 16 launch facilities and complexes and maintains a 15,000-foot runway, the second largest airfield runway in the Department of Defense, according to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview of Vandenberg. Space Launch Delta 30's stated mission is launch, test and support for its strategic mission partners. The overview calls Santa Barbara County a high-cost area; in October 2026 it put the cost of living at 55% to 80% above the U.S. average.

Vance Air Force Base

"The 71st Flying Training Wing conducts undergraduate pilot training for qualified United States military officers and also international officers", according to the Vance MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page. The Vance overview places the base in Garfield County on the south side of Enid, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, 115 miles west of Tulsa and 123 miles south of Wichita, Kansas.

USAG Humphreys

U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, about 40 miles south of Seoul, is the headquarters for U.S. Forces Korea and Eighth Army. According to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview of Humphreys, it covers 3,000 acres, hosts approximately 43,000 service members, civilians, contractors and family members, and is the largest Army installation overseas.

USAG Hohenfels

Hohenfels is one of the four locations of U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria rather than a garrison of its own; MilitaryINSTALLATIONS lists it as "USAG Bavaria, Hohenfels". The Hohenfels MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page describes a single installation about an hour south of Grafenwoehr and Vilseck and about two and a half hours north of Garmisch, including the Hohenfels Training Area, 163 square kilometers. The garrison-wide rules (the S-Bus from Ramstein, mandatory assignment to government quarters, the dog rules) are in the USAG Grafenwoehr guide; this page covers what is different at Hohenfels.

USAG Grafenwoehr

The garrison at Grafenwoehr has been U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria since 2013: the USAG Bavaria about page says "In 2013, USAG Grafenwoehr was transformed to USAG Bavaria, a single Garrison with four locations", Grafenwoehr, Vilseck, Hohenfels and Garmisch, along with the Grafenwoehr Training Area camps. Grafenwoehr itself is Tower Barracks. The garrison site's units and tenants list includes the 7th Army Training Command, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, the 41st Field Artillery Brigade and the 18th Military Police Brigade.

USAG Garmisch

Garmisch is a community of U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, not a separate garrison; MilitaryINSTALLATIONS lists it as "USAG Bavaria, Garmisch", with its headquarters in Building 203 on Artillery Kaserne in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. According to the Garmisch MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page, the main units in the area are the Military Police, the George C. Marshall Center, the NATO School in Oberammergau and the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort. The same page says Garmisch "is a small community" without "a full range of services 100% of the time", and lists the lack of military medical and dental facilities and the high cost of living in a resort area among the challenges.

United States Naval Academy

The U.S. Naval Academy sits in Annapolis, Maryland, on the banks of the Severn River and the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, a 338-acre complex with a brigade of 4,400 midshipmen and 580 faculty members, according to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview of NSA Annapolis and the Naval Academy. Naval Support Activity Annapolis, across the Severn from the Academy, maintains the small craft, equipment and facilities used for midshipman training. The overview calls Annapolis a high cost of living area, "primarily due to the high cost of housing".

United States Coast Guard Yard

The Coast Guard Yard at Curtis Bay, Maryland, established in 1899, is "the U.S. Coast Guard's sole shipbuilding and major repair facility", according to a May 2026 Army Corps of Engineers photo caption on DVIDS. A State of Maryland fact sheet, whose pages are marked 7-21, places it at 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, on 113 acres that lie in both Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City. The Yard has no MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page, so the practical details of a move here, from housing to medical care, come from your sponsor and your gaining command.

United States Coast Guard Academy

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 31 Mohegan Avenue, New London, Connecticut, grants Bachelor of Science degrees in ten engineering or professional majors, "charges no tuition", and each year commissions approximately 200 graduates as Coast Guard officers, according to the Academy's MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page. All guests age 18 and older must show REAL ID-compliant identification to come on board the campus, the Academy's website says.

The garrison is officially U.S. Army Garrison Okinawa, and Torii Station, in Sobe, Yomitan-son, on Okinawa, is where it is located; MilitaryINSTALLATIONS lists it as "USAG Okinawa, Torii Station". According to its MilitaryINSTALLATIONS main page, the Army on Okinawa receives and distributes cargo, distributes the island's military fuel supply and runs port operations, and the 10th Support Group is the senior command for all Army organizations on Okinawa.

U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern

The Army garrison in Kaiserslautern today is U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz, which, according to the USAG Rheinland-Pfalz history page, was activated with its headquarters in Kaiserslautern, Germany, on Oct. 1, 2013, and is made up of 26 sites and installations across Kaiserslautern, Baumholder, Landstuhl, Sembach, Mannheim, Miesau, Gruenstadt and Germersheim. The Army side of the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC) runs through this garrison; family housing in the KMC is run by the Air Force.

U.S. Army Garrison Daegu

U.S. Army Garrison Daegu, Area IV, is home to Camp Walker, Camp Henry, Camp George and Camp Carroll in Waegwan, linked by a free shuttle, according to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS overview of USAG Daegu. Its MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page describes the garrison's job as providing community services, facilities and infrastructure for soldiers, civilians, contractors and families while enabling the "Fight Tonight" capability.

U.S. Army Garrison Brussels

The Army's Brussels community is part of U.S. Army Garrison Benelux, which MilitaryINSTALLATIONS lists as "USAG BENELUX-Brussels" and whose mission is to deliver "quality base support to enable readiness for NATO, USAREUR, and deployed elements of a globally responsive Army", according to the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS page for USAG Benelux-Brussels. Facilities include the Sterrebeek Annex, home to the health clinic, child care and youth programs.

U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder

U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder no longer exists as a separate garrison: according to the USAG Rheinland-Pfalz history page, it "officially deactivated May 22, 2014", and USAG Rheinland-Pfalz took command. Baumholder remains a military community in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, run as part of that garrison. The same page notes the Americans took over the Baumholder training area from the French at the end of 1951 and began building family housing in 1953.

Tyndall Air Force Base

Tyndall Air Force Base, "Home of the Checkertails!", is the home of the 325th Fighter Wing, which the Tyndall overview on MilitaryINSTALLATIONS says is "spearheading air dominance with a formidable fleet of F-35A Lightning II aircraft". The base sits on the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle, in Bay County, 12 miles east of Panama City. It was established in December 1941 as Tyndall Field, named for 1st Lt. Frank Benjamin Tyndall, a World War I fighter pilot.
